Our rich history
The Eurail Pass was introduced by the European railways in 1959 to enable non-European residents to easily discover Europe. Eurail quickly became a symbol of European unification and the continent’s reopening after World War II by connecting 13 countries with a single Pass. Interrail was introduced in 1972 by the European railways to enable young Europeans up to the age of 21 years to discover their continent by connecting 21 countries with one Pass. Since 1998, Interrail is available for travellers of all ages.
Our company was established in 2006 with the goal of convincing everyone that visiting Europe with one of our rail passes is the best way to discover the continent. Eurail.com was designated by the Eurail Group G.I.E. as general sales organisation for Rail Passes. In 2019, Eurail.com joined forces with the Eurail Group G.I.E to become Eurail B.V.
Eurail gives travelers from all over the world the opportunity to experience flexible, borderless train travel across Europe. With a Eurail or Interrail Pass (for non-European and European citizens respectively), travelers of all ages can use an expansive network of train and ferry connections to travel in and between up to 31 countries. Eurail and Interrail Passes are available via the Eurail.com and Interrail.eu web shops, as well as via an extensive network of trusted distribution partners worldwide. Eurail B.V. is owned by more than 35 European railway and ferry companies, and is headquartered in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
